WHAT HAPPENED?
Ramos joined Mexican Liga MX side Monterrey this winter as a free agent after having spent the start of the season without a club following his departure from Sevilla in July 2024. The Mexican side is Ramos' third club since leaving Los Blancos in 2021, however, it is clear that the 15-time Champions League winners remain his fondest of all the clubs.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Upon joining Monterrey, Ramos chose the shirt number 93 to signify his infamous 93rd-minute equaliser for Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final as Los Blancos beat their bitter city rivals 4-1 in extra-time with goals from Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo. The 38-year-old then opened up about his feelings towards the iconic moment.
